Review of 10th Anniversary UK Urs Mubarak - March 2008.
Held in Keighley in commemoration of Hazrat Maulana Hafiz Muhammad Yaqub Sahib (RA).
The ever-colourful and vibrant occasion of the annual Urs Mubarak (blessed memorial) of the great Saint, Hazrat Khawaja Peer Muhammad Yaqub Sahib (RA) was observed successfully with due ceremony again this year on Sunday 23rd March in Keighley, West Yorkshire.
This year held the 10th annual Urs Mubarak of our beloved Hazrat Sahib who is always remembered with great vigour. As always is the case, the fervently anticipated monumental function commenced shortly after Zuhr prayers, with a constant stream of devotees arriving throughout the afternoon, leading to what can only be described as an ocean of humanity that ultimately engulfed the magnificently decorated venue at Highfield Masjid. The function hall was adorned with colourful banners and bright lights, and the stage was elevated to seat the many distinguished scholars and naht khwans.
Speeches by eminent scholars and students of Islam alike captured the full attention of the huge gathering, and the emotional recitation of the Holy Qur'an and devotional reading of nahts during this Holy Month of Rabbi-ul-Awwal raised the spirits of the audience. Peerzada Sardar Ahmed Qadri Sahib and Maulana Abu Bakr Chisti Sahib provided speeches in their own style, whilst Chaudhary Iftikhar Hussain, Shabaz Qamar Freedi, Tariq Mujahid, Milaad Raza Qadri and Altaf Shah Sahib Qazmi were amongst the naht khwans to participate in the ceremony. Special guests of His Excellency, Hazrat Peer Dr. Sahibzadah Sajid-ur-Rehman Sahib included, His Eminence, Hazrat Peer Muhammad Ala-uddin Siddiqui Sahib of Nerian Shareef who delivered a poetic and impassioned speech at the climatic stages of the Urs Mubarak.
Undoubtedly, the conclusion of the ceremony will always remain a poignant memory for everyone. Hazrat Peer Sahibzadah Dr. Sajid-ur-Rehman Sahib spoke with immense passion, captivating the audience with His Excellency's heart-rending words, emphasising the need for Muslims to reach the pinnacle of their education, both Islamic and secular. His Excellency also praised the efforts of Hazrat Peer Ala-uddin Siddiqui Sahib, with particular mention of the success of Noor TV.
Langar and tea was provided throughout the whole event, allowing distance travellers some respite. Much deserved credit is owed to the Anjuman Mohibeen-e-Mashaikh Baghar Shareef (UK) who laboured intensely to ensure the success of the Urs Mubarak, which requires enormous work and endless generosity of time, effort and money to accommodate the vast numbers, many of whom arrived from across the country, and even some from abroad.
The exquisite event passed successfully with the spiritual guidance, du'a and blessings of our beloved Hazrat Peer Dr. Sahibzadah Sajid-ur-Rehman Sahib, without whom none of this would have been possible. For this, we shall forever remain indebted to His Excellency. However, it remains to thank the one whose guests we all were, the great saint, Hazrat Khwaja Hafiz Muhammad Yaqub Sahib (RA). At this point words truly become redundant but remain our only tool of expression other than to put into action in our own lives Hazrat Sahib's philosophy of love of the Beloved Prophet of Islam (pbuh). Truly none leave Hazrat Sahib's court disappointed - but immeasurably enriched in spirit from the vast wealth of His Excellency's great, ever-living, soul.
May Allah (swt) give us the strength to follow the magnificent examples set by His Beloved Prophet and of the Awliya-Allah. Ameen.
